IMF Draft Specification V1.0

Thank you for your interest in the Interoperable Master Format Project.

Over the last year, the Entertainment Technology Center at the University of Southern California (ETC) has hosted a project seeking to develop a voluntary specification for an interoperable set of master files (and associated metadata) to enable the interchange and automated creation of downstream distribution packages within the motion picture and television production and post‐production industries.

It is with great pleasure that I report to you that ETC’s Interoperable Master Format 1.0 Specification has been submitted to SMPTE on February 22, 2011 for input into the standardization process. The 1.0 spec reflects much of the feedback we received from interested industry parties like yourself, and we thank you greatly for your interest, questions and observations you provided in the process.

We want to thank everyone who contributed and/or expressed an interest in the Interoperable Master Format project.

If you are a SMPTE member, we strongly encourage you to join the IMF Working Group at SMPTE (under 10e) so that you can help shape and guide the IMF as it hopefully becomes a standard.

Best,
David Wertheimer CEO & Executive Director
