ST launches 3-D digital TV chip

LONDON – STMicroelectronics has announced it is offering an IC with 3-D television support and 120-Hz motion estimation and motion compensation for 1080-line progressive scan pictures within mid-range integrated digital televisions.

The FLI7525 offers H.264/MPEG audio/video decoding and includes proprietary 2-D to 3-D conversion along with proprietary “judder-reduction” technology and depth control for video and on-screen displays.

The FLI7525 is sampling and is set to be demonstrated at the Internationale Funkausstellung expo in Berlin, but only in a private suite, ST (Geneva, Switzerland) said. Pricing is available on request, the company added.
