Treyarch has told CVG that it looked into creating 3D content for Call of Duty: Black Ops – but has cagily suggested than none has made it into the final title.
The studio’s community manager Josh Olin told us that 3D wasn’t a “big focus” for the studio – without definitively saying “no”.
FPS rivals Crysis 2 and Killzone 3 have both adopted the technology.
“We’ve looked at it,” Olin revealed. “I think that games [are] going to work if you have your 3D goggles and 3DTV.
“We haven’t engineered any gameplay specifically to 3D – that technology was kind of new [during development] so that’s not a big focus for Black Ops. But it is definitely popular, especially the depth 3D [offers] right now. That is what people seem to be liking right now, the depth through your monitor rather than things popping out at you.”
See? Cagey. Could Treyarch be planning a 3D software update in the future – or perhaps DLC?
Certainly one to watch. In the meantime, fill your ocular light suckers with this recent multiplayer trailer. (video on source site)
