Super Mario on the 3DS to be revealed at E3

[By Scott Nichols, Gaming Reporter, www.digitalspy.com]

Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed new details of Super Mario on 3DS.

While speaking with Edge, Miyamoto confirmed that the fan-favorite raccoon suit, or tanooki suit, will be back in Super Mario on 3DS. Rumors of the power-up’s return began when the silhouette of a raccoon tail appeared on the first logo for Super Mario.

“It’s what you think it is,” Miyamoto explained. “You probably know what’s going to happen using that character.”

Miyamoto also talked briefly about drawing the game’s inspiration from past titles.

“It’s a combination of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario on N64,” he said. “It won’t convey the message if I talk to you today, but if you play it at E3 that will give you more understanding of what I’m talking about.

“For example, the floors floating in space: in 2D it’s difficult to judge the distance, but in 3D it’s really easy.”

Super Mario on 3DS will be fully revealed and playable at E3 this June.
