As 3D technology matures, experts in advertisement circles have predicted that 3D outdoor advertising will create more than 10 billion yuan (US$1.6 billion) in business in China over the next three years, reports Chinese-language newspaper the Economic Observer.
Members of China Advertising Association of Commerce held a forum for transformation of marketing in Shanghai last week, stated the outdoor advertising in China has entered into a new — or “4.0” — era of 3D technology.
Zhou Zhongrun, CEO of Shanghai-based advertisement company Strong-Choice Media, explained the concept of the 4.0 era, which is characterized by 3D projection technology. In the 1.0 era, outdoor advertising was static. The introductions of neon lights, scrolling light boxes, and other electric equipment led outdoor advertising into the 2.0 era. In the recent years, large-size LEDs have been widely used, which opened the digitalized 3.0 era of outdoor advertising in China.
