3D Television Programming: Sports, Music, Arts & Nature Shows Available 24/7

[SF Gate]

After a few false starts over the last two or three decades, it looks like 3D televisions are here to stay. In fact, according to the market research firm NPD DisplaySearch, in 2011 3D TVs accounted for 9% of fourth-quarter TV shipments in the U.S., 21% in Western Europe and 23% in China.

… Are there channels and shows that warrant an investment in a new 3D television?  …

– ESPN 3D. This 3D channel broadcasts almost 100 live sporting events in 3D — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

– 3net. Formed by Discovery Channel, Sony and IMAX, this 24/7 3D network features nature and adventure shows, MMA fights, movies, kids and family programming, as well as concerts by popular artists like Peter Gabriel and Alice Cooper.

– n3D. This dedicated HD 3D channel offers 3D sports programming, as well as shows on music, nature and the arts.

– Xfinity. This 3D television channel features sports, music and nature programming.

In addition to these channels, many cable and satellite TV providers offer access to libraries of popular movies and TV shows that viewers can watch in 3D on demand.
