It’s finally here! Well, not quite. After last May’s Japanese launch of the Aquos SH-12C, Sharp is making its first foray into the European 3D smartphone market by releasing the device, this time dubbed the Aquos Phone SH80F, as its very first glasses-free autostereoscopic smartphone. There’s just one hitch—it only seems to be coming out in France, and whether or not we can expect a wider European release is anybody’s guess.

Where the Aquos Phone sets itself apart from the Evo and Optimus 3D is that you can choose to view the Android desktops in three dimensions (HTC’s version doesn’t offer this feature at all, and the LG has a separate menu for 3D that you have to access indirectly). …
Outside of the special 3D content, Android’s basic support is all that’s available for reading multimedia files. That means you’ll have to go to Android Market and download a few third-party apps (DICE Player, MoboPlayer…) if you want to play all possible formats. …
Sharp has also included two 3D video games, Need for Speed and The Sims 3, and the 3D function in no way slows them down.
