Banking on the hoped-for 3D craze, Samsung has introduced three new 3D
plasma TVs, a portable 3D Blu-ray player, 3D home-theater systems and a
content deal with Dream Works and IMAX. The new 3D TV models include a
low-end 50″ screen retailing at just $1,100; the company says the portable
3D Blu-ray is the first of its kind, enabling 3D playback on its 10.1″
screen when connected to a 3D TV.
On the content side, Samsung’s deal with IMAX includes 12-months exclusive
carriage of two IMAX 3D films (“Into the Deep” and “Galapagos”).
