Patriots vs. Giants in 3D closes preseason

Thursday, Sept. 2 will mark the end of preseason NFL games as well as a broadcasting milestone. The New England Patriots vs. the New York Giants will be broadcast in 3D from New Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey. This will be the first time an NFL game is broadcast in 3D, and Verizon customers in local markets will be able to watch the broadcast on channel 834. Of course, a 3D TV and glasses will be required.

Specific coverage areas include New York City, Long Island, Westchester and Rockland counties, northern New Jersey, Mercer County, N.J., Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

“This is the next major step in our development of 3D experiences for our FiOS TV customers,” said Terry Denson, VP content strategy and acquisition for Verizon.

The NFL 3D broadcast will start at 6:45 p.m. ET. The game will also be broadcast in HD on NBC in the New York Metro area or on CBS in the Boston/Providence area.

Don’t have a 3D TV? Check with Verizon for local viewing events.

The Patriots will visit Meadowlands again on Sept. 19 for a regular season game against the Giants.
