“Going Green” is another major trend we’ve seen at this year’s show. In addition to an array of products and services designed to conserve energy and help the environment, CES is featuring a new TechZone in the Central Hall called “Greener Gadgets.”
The Greener Gadgets TechZone features technologies that benefit the environment and illustrate how the CE industry is “reducing its environmental footprint through promoting alternative and renewable energy sources, manufacturing products from recycled materials, using biodegradable/less packaging.”

The new Fuji EnviroMAX batteries are eco-friendly, long-lasting, mercury, cadmium and PVC-free, and made with recycled materials
Here are some relevant “green” facts from this year’s show:
- “89% of consumers want energy efficient televisions.” – Howard Stringer, Sony CEO
- A number of major CE manufacturers have rolled out programs to recycle electronic waste including Sony, Toshiba, Sharp and Panasonic. Toshiba, Sharp and Panasonic have set up a joint venture, the Electronic Manufacturers Recycling Management Company, which will set up 280 recycling points across all 50 states.
