Michigan-based Myine Electronics was showcasing its $250 Abbee, a home speaker device with built-in FM tuner that essentially serves as a commercial-free music system.
The Abbee earned a Best of Innovations Award in Design & Engineering from CES (we saw a version of this product last year when it was listed in the top 25 of NetShelter’s Last Gadget Standing).
Abbee is an FM radio that records music and removes commercials and DJ talk – and transfers the music to a range of MP3 players and phones, including the Myine Music Lock portable player (think TiVo for the radio). Aimed at baby boomers and requiring no ongoing interaction, this device continues to learn about the music the user likes and alters its recording profile based on usage. Another step toward media personalization.
