The UK Border Agency reminded us recently that positions in Britain’s IT sector are still going to locals, although more software developers and graphic designers than available are needed to produce visual effects, 2D and 3D computer animation for film, TV and video games. The agency just published a list of occupations having a shortage of Brits to fill available positions.
This means that UK companies can get a visa for someone to come to the UK if an open job is on the list, or if no suitable worker applies after the position has been advertised in the UK for four weeks. Here is an abstract from the 15 pages list published by the UK Government.
