While 70% of dual-service subscribers are “disappointed” with Netflix’s new pricing plan, only 12% to 15% actually plan to cancel their subscriptions, according to TGD. Other estimates come in all over the playing field. Bryan Gonzalez, director of social media labs at the ETC@USC, predicts cancellation rates of roughly 10% to 12%. Meanwhile, Wedbush Securities believes as many as 22% of subscribers will discontinue their plans, settling for alternatives like Redbox rental kiosks, Hulu, video-on-demand via cable TV, Amazon Video on Demand and others.
