Over the past several years the CEA has made a concerted effort to engage the content community and make CES a forum for discussion between content creators and CE manufacturers. This effort has manifested itself in many ways from dedicated floor space for showcasing content to conference sessions geared towards the content community.
Of particular interest this year is the conference track entitled Media Money Makers, which will take place in LVCC North Hall during the afternoons of Thursday, January 6th and Friday, January 7th at CES 2011. These sessions are designed for content creators and media executives looking to monetize content through digital distribution channels. The conference features an impressive list of C-level executives from all the major media corporations in addition to plenty of movers and shakers from up-and-coming start-ups.
Highlights from the agenda include presentations by Scott Brown, SVP of Strategy and Digital Platform at the Nielsen Company, and Alan Wurtzel, president, Research and Media Design for NBC Universal, in a session titled, “ Who’s Really Watching What and How?” These two consumer behavior experts will show how people are really using new media and talk about the future of traditional broadcast.
Other sessions that are sure to be insightful and entertaining include “Secrets of YouTube Superstars,” featuring producers of top viral hits, and “Scripps Network’s Recipe for Success” where celebrity chef Melissa D’Arabian and GM of the new Cooking Channel Michael Smith will discuss the keys to cross-platform brand-building.
True to the Media Money Makers title, there will be plenty of discussions about monetizing content. “2020 Vision: The Future of Media Monetization” will feature an all-star cast of industry thought leaders including Darcy Antonellis, president of Warner Bros. Technical Operations, Joanne Burns, EVP of marketing for 20th Century Fox Television, and Vivian Schiller, president/CEO of National Public Radio.
