DDD, the AIM-listed 3D solutions firm, has signed a contract with what it claims is a leading mobile phone manufacturer.
The deal will see DDD’s software, which automatically converts video from 2D to 3D, bundled into the manufacturer’s forthcoming 3D phone, using the Android operating system.
The agreement includes a one-off $120,000 (£750,000) development and license fee but DDD will also receive quarterly royalties from the manufacturer based on the volume of 3D smartphones manufactured.
Production of handsets began in the first half of 2011.
Chris Yewdall, Chief Executive of DDD, said: “DDD’s TriDef 3D content solutions are now available for all major consumer displays including televisions, personal computers and smartphones, with the latest 3D visual experience delivered without the viewer needing to wear special 3D glasses.”
DDD’s shares were up 8% in early trading.
