Under the deal Sky and Virgin Media, Discovery’s biggest distribution partners in the UK, have signed content deals to air commissions including 3D Safari, which is to be made by Renegade Pictures, a 10-part series of 60-minute shows filmed at Woburn Abbey, home to a safari park.
A second wildlife show, Beautiful Freaks, is to be filmed in Namibia by Tigress Productions. The 60-minute special is hosted by Discovery Networks regular Nick Baker.
Discovery has not put a figure on the amount of hours the UK broadcast deals cover. But shows to be aired also include a number from 3NET, the joint venture between Discovery, Sony and IMAX in the US, such as extreme sports series High Octane.
