French Exhibition Giant Signs Deal With MasterImage 3D

Les Cinémas Gaumont to equip 73 theater strong chain with 3D tech spec.

France’s leading exhibitor, Les Cinémas Gaumont has signed a deal with digital cinema group MasterImage 3D to equip several of its theaters in France and the Netherlands with MasterImage’s 3D technology.

The first will be Pajrignan, Gaumont Ambassade, Gaumont Opera Premier and Gaumont Opera Capucines in Paris and the Pathé Haarlem in Holland.

MasterImage 3D has similar deals in place with other major European exhibitors, including Germany’s Cineplex, Britain’s Empire Cinemas and Cinema City International in Eastern Europe.

But Pathé is a major deal for MasterImage as the French group is a Euro giant, with 73 theaters in France, 22 in the Netherlands and 10 in Switzerland, representing nearly 1,000 screens.
