The GMAs, which recognize creativity in digital media went to a number of worthy entrants.
One highlight from the evening was the acceptance speech by will.i.am, lead singer of the Black Eyed Peas, who won for his video “Yes We Can” – a runaway hit on YouTube, which helped galvanize support for Barack Obama.
Will noted that digital media affords people the ability to affect change. The video cost almost nothing to make. He made nothing from it, but it changed him and others.
Other winners included HBO, mtvU, Brightline iTV, DirecTV, ABC, BBC, Sony Electronics, NASCAR and more. This is the first year of the GMAs, a joint venture of CEA and NATAS.
