Four major cinema circuits in Hong Kong joint hands – 3D GO GREEN

BYOG (Bring Your Own Glasses)

(Hong Kong – June 7, 2010) 3D movies are becoming increasingly popular around the

world and film production companies are producing more 3D movies with aim to offer

extra vivid and dynamic images to audience.  Currently, 3D glasses are lent out by

cinema and to be returned upon end of movie.  Returned 3D glasses are often damaged

and thus, cannot be reused.  As 3D movies become more widespread, so as the amount

of 3D glasses disposal.  Additionally, there is also a hygiene concern emerging as more

3D movies hit the big screen. To control further wastage and hygiene concern,

Broadway*, UA*, AMC* and PALACE*, have joint hands to launch “3D Go Green –

BYOG” campaign.

To commemorate the launch of this green-saving campaign, four largest cinema circuits,

Broadway, UA, AMC and PALACE, will giveaway one free RealD 3D glasses per 3D

movie goer from June 23 to September 15, 2010.  Audience are encouraged to BYOG

upon their next visits of 3D movies to help go green and for better hygiene.  What is more

is, during promotional period, BYOG audience can redeem FREE popcorn and $10 movie

cash coupon.  There is no better reason than to BYOG when you can help the world go

greener while enjoy free popcorn and discounts.  After the promotion, from September

16 onwards, 3D movie goers without their own 3D glasses will need to purchase a new

pair of RealD 3D glasses at the box office.

3D Go Green: BYOG campaign has already been launched earlier time in the United

States and Australia with encouraging results and support from the public.  There is no

doubt this meaningful campaign will shine just as well or better in Hong Kong.
