Legend3D converts first 3 ‘Shreks’ to 3D

3D Blu-rays of franchise sold in set ‘Shrek: The Whole Story’

3D conversion company Legend3D announced that it was the firm to handle the 2D-to-3D conversions of DreamWorks Animation’s “Shrek,” “Shrek 2” and “Shrek the Third” for home release.

The conversion vendor said the three titles will be bundled with “Shrek Forever After” in a 3D Blu-ray set. DreamWorks Animation has also inked an exclusive deal with Samsung to provide the bundle to consumers who purchase 2010 Samsung 3DTVs and 3D Blu-ray players.

Legend3D founder Barry Sandrew said he thinks the conversions will match the excellence of the native 3D fourth installment, stressing that the company produces quality work by not accepting more jobs than they can handle.

“All we can do is what we can do, and what we can do is the best work possible. We’re not going to take any shortcuts,” he said.

Sandrew and Legend3D prexy Rob Hummel, who moved to the conversion vendor from competitor Prime Focus in November, have confirmed the firm’s slate currently includes five feature films, but both have declined to name names citing nondisclosure agreements.
