MotorStorm 3D Rift Hits PS3

First new PS3 3D experience since E3

A brand new 3D game has just crossed the digital download streams on PS3, becoming the first new 3D title for the platform since its first batch a couple months ago.

It’s still not quite the MotorStorm: Pacific Rift Blu-ray Disc game update that we’ve been promised, but it is a much fuller experience than the 3D racing demo Sony launched around the time of E3.

There are 10 tracks rendered in full stereoscopic 3D to become what should be the most impressive 3D gamingexperience available.

This also becomes the first buyable game on the PS3 that was created exclusively for 3D TV viewers. However, it does still support 2D gameplay (the game does want to make money, after all).

There is still no full disc-based PS3 game available in 3D. Upcoming games like Tron and Gran Turismo 5 have promised support for the new video standard, but so far the only full titles available in 3D on the PS3 are the downloadable games Super Stardust HD and Wipeout HD.

MotorStorm 3D Rift is available now for $9.99 from the PlayStation Store.
