Coby Electronics is focused on only one 3D TV for 2012, a 32-inch, 1080p LED-backlit LCD model using passive technology that’s targeted at GameStop-type customers, Senior Product Manager Michael Paladino told Consumer Electronics Daily. Game software and accessories, meanwhile, were out in force at CES on Tuesday, especially at the ShowStoppers product showcase.
Coby is “going after the gaming market” because there’s just “not enough 3D content out there” aside from games –- even two years after companies first laid out aggressive 3D strategies at CES, Paladino said. Last year at CES, Coby said it was testing the waters of both active-shutter and passive 3D TV technology (CED Jan 12/11 p7).
