At CEATEC JAPAN 2010, Panasonic exhibited the LUMIX GH2, their latest in the G series of Digital Single Lens Micro Four Thirds cameras, for release on October 29. Panasonic also demonstrated 3D still photography using the world’s first 3D interchangeable lens for digital cameras.
The new 3D capability is for still photography and it requires a 3D lens, which is available separately. This 3D lens can capture moving subjects with less ghosting and distortion than continuous-shooting 3D methods, by simultaneously taking two pictures for the left and right eyes.
The camera body features a newly developed 4/3 Live MOS sensor with effective resolution of 16.05 megapixels, as well as the Venus Engine FHD image processor. This camera also has the world’s fastest autofocus among interchangeable lens models, at just 1/10th of a second. High speed consecutive shooting is also possible in full resolution at 5 frames per second as well as a burst mode which captures 40 fps at a 4 megapixel resolution.
