Pioneer Opens PAIS Platform to Industry

Pioneer announced plans to open its PAIS platform (Platform for Aggregation of Internet Services) for connected devices to the industry (including its competitors) and also new car navigation and automobile content devices.

The PAIS platform is a device portal that normalizes the interface between the wide variety of Internet services and connected devices.  PAIS is designed to handle multiple device and application types including in-vehicle telematics, MIDs, TVs, home theater, and smartphone apps.

In order to bring a wide range of content to the automobile and portable devices, Pioneer announced plans to open its development activity centered on PAIS to the industry.  The company plans to open PAIS to early access device partners in mid 2010.
