Plastic Logic’s Que tablet on the Mark

This e-reader could very well give the others a run for their money.  Plastic Logic’s Que proReader tablet is spacious at 8.5x 11-inches, yet light (at approximately one pound).  Its thin form (a third of an inch) and pleasing plastic case make it feel elegant to hold. But the fun doesn’t stop there!  Designed specifically for text, the Que’s touch screen is strictly black and white.  Coupled with good luminosity and contrast ratios, it is soothing to the eyes and should be well received by paper and ink enthusiasts.

QUE_resizedThe device has 4GB of storage, and is Wi-Fi enabled.  The company has pacted with Barnes & Noble for book purchases and already has deals with a wide array of publications including The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and the LA Times – all able to be enjoyed with their print format intact, thanks to Que’s proReader software, powered by Adobe Reader Mobile SDK.

Pricing ranges from $649 for the basic 4GB model to $799 for an 8GB model that is 3G enabled through AT&T.  Preorders are being taken now for a spring delivery.  Plastic Research was founded in 2000 by a team out of Cambridge University’s Cavendish Laboratory.
