Samsung’s Moment, available from Sprint, receives live over-the-air digital TV signals. The unit, which uses a proprietary DTV Mobile processor developed by Samsung, is billed as the first single-chip solution for the recently approved Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) Mobile Digital TV standard.
The ATSC Mobile Digital TV chip will allow Samsung Moment to receive live TV programming from local broadcast stations, including prime-time network programs, local news and sports and emergency alerts.
The Moment is Android-equipped and has a 3.2-inch AMOLED screen, slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a 3.2 megapixel camera. It will deploy in a market trial with Sprint customers in the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore markets during the first quarter of 2010.
