San Jose-based Scent Sciences Corporation introduced a $69.99 device called the ScentScape, an “innovative digital scent delivery system” that hopes to add an extra dimension to gaming, entertainment and other consumer markets.

This time it’s more like a dot matrix printer with a large number of scent capsules in a printer-like cartridge that are mixed and released to resemble many recognizable scents. The intensity can be adjusted and scripted to match video frames, for instance. Featured scents include pine forest, ocean, flowers and smoke.

This is not your father’s Smell-O-Vision.
