Sharp has announced that sales of the AQUOS L Series LCD TV with enhanced smartphone connectivity will begin on July 15, 2011.
In addition to the company’s 4-primary-color technology Quattronand high-speed UV2A LCDs, the latest series utilizes a new 240Hz scanning technology.
“This product also features 3D. The glasses come with it. The new 240Hz scanning technology allows people to see a clean and bright image with the image lag reduced as much as possible. We achieved this 240Hz system capable of high-speed video processing by using LCD panels that can handle images at high speeds, revising both backlight flashing and image processing, as well as the liquid crystal materials of the LCD panel. Specifically, we’ve substantially increased response speed from the past 4ms down to 3ms now, so that people can enjoy bright high-definition 3D pictures with a reduced image lag.”
In addition, the smartphone connectivity enables people to send videos and still images they shoot with their AQUOS Phone directly to the TV screen with instinctive finger -movements, and control the TV with voice commands.
“TV is not just about high image quality, we are also making the point of high audio quality to our customers. We’ve mounted a total of eight speakers around the screen. They include the newly developed Duo Bass system, comprising two bass speakers mounted horizontally and facing each other to replicate very rich bass sounds while greatly suppressing vibrations and eliminating random noise. We believe this system will be extremely satisfying in terms of audio also.”
The anticipated list prices will be 220,000 yen for the 40-inch TV, 300,000 yen for the 46-inch model, 380,000 yen for the 52-inch type, and 450,000 yen for the 60-inch TV. Sharp plans initially to produce 20,000 units per month.
