RE: 3D Force meeting – Sunday, February 13th, 3pm-6pm, in Burbank
DATE: Tuesday, February 22, 2011
Fellow 3Dreamers:
Oscar fever is upon us. Celebrity sightings abound in a half-dozen late-added Events. The annual Academy Awards is Hollywood’s Christmas.
With the Awards ceremonies on February 27th, our next regular 3D Video Task Force meeting has been postponed, with a special 3D Force meeting added the following Sunday (03/06) and unofficial Force meet-ups at the Alpha Dogs Editor’s Lounge (02/25) and Createasphere/EXPLORE’s Entertainment Technology Exposition (03/03). See late-addition Events update, below.
In other late-breaking Events, you can meet four 3D directors in three days at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences: Kenneth Branagh (THOR 3D) introduces the 2010 Animated & Live-Action Short Films nominees (02/22); Michael Apted (CHRONICLES OF NARNIA Voyage Of The Dawn Treader) moderates an evening with this year’s Documentary nominees (02/23); and the Animated Feature Symposium includes the directors of TOY STORY 3 and HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON (02/24).
Meet more nominees at the Foreign Language Academy Award Symposium, Makeup Nominees Symposium and ACE Symposium with 2010 Academy Award Film Editor Nominees (all on 02/26).
But wait, folks, that’s not all! Learn more about the 3D@Home Consortium (02/22) and SCSC member Franklin London adds 3-Dimensions to the ”34 Days Of Dance” art show opening reception (02/26).
Plus previously-announced Video Symphony’s Pizza & Post (02/22), Final Cut Pro Users Group (02/23) and L.A. Cinema Club (02/23).
****
A collective of industry professionals and longtime hobbyists who share expertise and resources to encourage and develop independent video projects, the 3D Video Task Force meets the second- and fourth-Sundays of the month, in the Burbank/Glendale area. Our next Force meeting will be:
Sunday, March 6th & 13th, 3pm-6pm
Video Symphony, 266 E. Magnolia Blvd (at San Fernando Road) in Burbank
Adjacent to the Town Center and AMC Theatres. Plentiful free parking (at 239 E. Palm Street and in adjacent structures), but anticipate Sunday crowds at the local shops and theatres. There are a dozen IMAX or Real D 3D screens within immediate walking distance.
For entry assistance, the direct-line to Video Symphony’s on-duty Tech person is 818-749-5942.
Bring your scripts, project proposals, progress reports and queries for our 3D Think Tank. All 3D Force meetings are free and open to the public.
Topics will include new 3D home video titles and equipment, new platforms for 3D exhibition and feedback from Entertainment Technology Expo and annual Academy Awards.
Please submit Agenda item requests, in person or by email, anytime before the regularly-scheduled meeting. Late requests accepted as time permits.
Video Symphony specializes in vocational training for the post-production industry. More information available at www.videosymphony.com.
Currently playing in 3D at AMC Burbank: GNOMEO & JULIET, NEVER SAY NEVER and SANCTUM (Digital 3D). Discount admissions before noon (WARNING: 3D surcharge).
