Testronic Laboratories announced Monday (January 4) that it is opening a new 3D Test Lab.
Services would include testing for products heading for the consumer market, including 3D and 2D Blu-ray Discs for studio clients; Blu-ray players for consumer electronics manufacturers; and 3DTVs for set makers. Testronic Labs would also be available to test streams through set-top boxes onto HD TVs for MSOs, cable companies and broadcasters.
Set to launch in the first quarter of 2010, the 3D Test Lab will be housed in the company’s First Street facility in Burbank.
Testronic Labs reported that it has spent the past year consulting with studios, broadcasters, hardware manufacturers and authoring facilities, to prepare test plans and procedures for the new technology. “As a contributing member of the BDA, we were confident that 3D would make it into the home in 2010,” said Seth Hallen, president of Testronic Labs US. “We invested in developing a deep knowledge base in the technology and putting the 3D Test Lab infrastructure into place.”
With the cooperation of the company’s 3D supply chain partners, the equipment at the new Lab will include pre-release 3D players and monitors.
Representatives from Testronic Labs will be in attendance this week at CES.
