The World's First Freehand Stereoscopic Animation Demonstration Event in the Animation Capital of the World – Burbank, CA

[Press Release]

The premiere animation talent community and host of the CTN animation eXpo, the Creative Talent Network (CTN), is proud to present in an exclusive launch the world’s first freehand stereoscopic animation software.

SANDDE software was developed by Janro Imaging Lab and is putting the world’s first freehand 3D stereoscopic animation software into the hands of some of the best animators in the world on Monday January 30th between 5pm and 9pm. SANDDE is both a creative break through concept and a technologically cutting-edge software that emphasizes a freehand drawing approach to 3D animation.

For well over 10 years 3D animation creating from spline based key frame systems have dominated the animation production landscape. Prior to that time animation was created using the classical hand drawn technique as seen in such films as “Bambi”, “The Little Mermaid”, “The Illusionist”, and “Sinbad”. As the stereoscopic equivalent of a piece of paper and a pencil, SANDDE is a stereo-3D animation system that allows animators to animate in space using a motion-tracking pen, or “Wand”, and watch their drawn creations come to life in real-time stereoscopic 3D. The result is a complete stereoscopic effect with the same graphic charm you find in traditional hand-drawn animation.

SANDDE bridges the gap between 2D and 3D by connecting the creative mind with the talented hand and breakthrough technology. Artwork literally floats in front of the artist’s eyes and characters come alive via a real-time trace of an artist’s hand movements.

In the words of award-winning animation Director Sylvain Chomet, (The Illusionist” and “The Triplets of Belleville) “It’s like walking around in your dreams.”

SANDDE was invented by Roman Kroitor, a co-founder of IMAX. His new company, Janro Imaging Laboratory Inc. has taken over the technology from IMAX, where it was an in-house production tool, and is now releasing SANDDE 2.1 as a consumer-friendly version of the product.

Be the first to see this new tool for creating animation. Meet the developers, and enjoy both technology and creative demonstrations. Special discounts to purchase the software will be available at this event along with contests and networking opportunities.
