Microsoft Photosynth has been around for a few years now, and it’s a fantastic and fun way to turn a series of photos into a 3D environment. It’s a lot like taking a panorama photo, except that a Photosynth lets you move around and walk around an object to get a total surround view of something interesting. In fact, it’s like the opposite of a panorama — one is a surround view from where you stand, and the other is a view of one thing from all kinds of surrounding positions.  …
