Vizio has chosen XpanD to be the exclusive OEM of Bluetooth-connected shutter glasses for their new 3D televisions. Bluetooth connectivity for sync will help alleviate the problems associated with IR transmission including interference with other peripherals.
XpanD was also showing off its new line of glasses including the X103 that will sync to almost any IR format you throw at it. XpanD is releasing these in hopes of simplifying the TV manufacturer releases 3D sets with different signals. Ami Dror of XpanD wouldn’t give me exact prices for the glasses, but said that they would probably be available at the big box retailers for around $50.
One other cool thing that they were showing is a PowerPoint add-on made by a company called Instant FX that enables users to quickly create 3D presentations. The add-on has a variety of themed effects and will render CAD models.
