3D TV will be in over 20m homes by 2015 – Informa

TechWatch

April 28, 2010

According to research carried out by the publisher Informa Telecoms and Media, by 2015, twenty million homes worldwide will be experiencing 3D television in their living rooms.

That figure may seem to be a lot, but in actual fact it only represents 1.6 per cent of all homes and therefore offers much more room for expansion.

The market leader will of course be the USA with around nine million homes enjoying the benefits of 3D television at their finger tips, while Western Europe will be the second largest market with 6.8 million and Asia Pacific coming in third with 4.6 million homes.

It is believed that 3D television won’t really take off until a true glasses-free system is launched.
