New Zealand Post launches first 3D stamp for Rugby World Cup

New Zealand Post is about to release its first three dimensional stamp.

Like so many other companies, it’s cashing in on all the hype surrounding the Rugby World Cup.

While it’s 25 times the price of a regular stamp, it’s still one of the most affordable souvenirs of the competition. …

“It’s a special cup and it’s a special event and we wanted to reflect that with a special stamp. The stamps cost $15 each and were created in Auckland,” says Simon Allison, sales and marketing manager for New Zealand Post.

The illusion of depth comes from photographs of the real trophy being taken from every angle then spliced together.

Despite being almost twice the size of a regular stamp, they can be used throughout the postal service like a normal stamp, if you’re willing to pay for it… and part with it.  …
