Sony shows off 3D technology [to 8th, 9th graders in UK]

…Pupils from The Forest School for boys, in Horsham, won a competition to spend the day at Sony Europe Ltd, in Jays Close, to explore the development of 3D.

Sony staff organised a programme of activities for the Year 8 and 9 pupils, including examining the latest developments in digital cinema.  …

Sony has two 3D training centres in the world – one in Hollywood, and the other in Basingstoke.

The students learned about the range of cues that the brain needs to see depth, and other factors that go into making a realistic 3D film.

They tried out a range of techniques, using film cameras and other technical equipment, and by the end of the session could make their own short movie with special effects. …
