3D in Mobile Devices (Market Research Report)

3D in Mobile Devices: 3D Adoption Will Be Highest in Smartphone, Handheld Gaming, and Tablet PC Markets

The majority of today’s 3D efforts are aimed at the cinema and in the home. A wide range of 3DTVs are available from major CE manufacturers like Panasonic, Samsung, and Sony, and the amount of 3D programming is increasing. The next likely application for 3D technology is in mobile devices. The market for 3D-enabled mobile devices will be limited over the next year, due mainly to a lack of 3D mobile content and the increase in technology costs necessary to incorporate 3D into mobile devices. However, the market is poised to take off in 2012, and then reach approximately 60 million units by 2014.

In-Stat’s latest research is one of the first reports to discuss the opportunities for 3D in mobile devices. It will include a discussion on key 3D technology suppliers, as well as the different types of 3D technology available today. This research will also include worldwide shipment forecasts for smartphones, handheld game consoles, tablet PCs, notebook PCs, digital photo frames, and portable media players, and include In-Stat’s expectations for what percent of those mobile device markets will be 3D-enabled. Finally, an in-depth discussion on key market drivers and challenges for 3D mobile devices is included.
